Another game and another loss. Once again, the injury bug reared its ugly head. I'm honestly starting to think this team is cursed.
Desmond Trufant was shaken up early, leaving the game momentarily. Eventually our linebackers started dropping like flies. First Akeem Dent suffered a high ankle sprain, and we all know how quickly those heal [wink wink]. Dent's injury was caused by an ill-executed attempt to tackle manbeast LeGarrette Blount. Paul Worrilow was also sidelined, which meant that recently-signed Omar Gaither found himself playing the Mike. Scary concept, eh?
Sam Baker went down with a left knee injury, needing help to get off the field. He wasn't playing particularly well, drawing two penalties in quick succession right before leaving the game. He was officially listed as questionable to return, then he didn't return at all. As a result, Lamer Holmes quickly found himself back in the line up, notwithstanding the benching he receive before tonight's game.
I'll say this, if you're blaming the Falcons coaching staff for most of these injuries, then you're just angry. Roddy White's maligned ankle is the only potential exception, but as for everyone else, I'd call it simple bad luck. Sure, it's bad luck of epic proportions, but I don't think this is a strength and conditioning or injury management issue.
Your thoughts?
