Steven Jackson Injury: Reportedly Out Two to Four Weeks, Ruled Out Against Dolphins

In the latest round of horrible injury news for the Atlanta Falcons, running back Steven Jackson will reportedly miss two to four weeks with a thigh injury.

UPDATE: Steven Jackson has been officially ruled out of this week's game.

NFL.com's Ian Rapoport is reporting that, although running back Steven Jackson will be officially listed by the team as week-to-week with the thigh injury he suffered in week two of the NFL season, Jackson will actually be out for two to four weeks, per a source.

Jackson suffered the injury on an 8-yard touchdown reception in the first quarter of Sunday's game against his former team, the St. Louis Rams. The Falcons never did get much of a rushing game going beyond that point, finishing the day with 36 yards on 16 carries.

Jackson was acquired by the Falcons in free agency this past offseason because they desperately needed an effective ground game. Jason Snelling performed admirably against the Rams after Jackson left the game, although most of his success came on receptions as opposed to rushing carries, and he will likely factor into the game plan for this week's contest against the Dolphins in Miami. Jacquizz Rodgers will likely see an increased workload as well. However, losing Jackson for up to four weeks is particularly bad news for Atlanta, especially on the heels of placing hybrid defensive end/linebacker Kroy Biermann and fullback Bradie Ewing on injured reserve, and linebacker Sean Weatherspoon on injured reserve, with a designation to return.

Here's hoping that Steven Jackson's recovery comes sooner than expected. The Falcons could use some good news.
