Falcons Injury Report: Brace Yourselves

Head coach Mike Smith said that the injury report is longer this week because of the physical nature of Sunday's game against the Saints. Whatever the reason, it's clear that the Falcons are pretty banged up this week.

Let's get the worst news out of the way first: Roddy White did not participate in practice with the ongoing high ankle sprain, and Julio Jones, Sam Baker and Jonathan Babineaux are each listed on the injury report as being held out of practice with knee injuries. We knew that White was continuing to deal with the high ankle sprain, and given the persistent nature of that particular injury, his designation on today's injury report is not a surprise. Julio Jones, however, is a surprise, as are Baker and Babineaux.

Thomas DeCoud (knee), Peria Jerry (knee), Cliff Matthews (neck), Asante Samuel (thigh) and Sean Weatherspoon (knee) were all limited in today's practice.

Per Jay Adams over at AtlantaFalcons.com, head coach Mike Smith did state that he expects White to play on Sunday against the Rams, although no specifics were given on the other players who were held out of today's practice.

For the Rams, safety Darian Stewart (thigh) and running back Daryl Richardson (foot) did not participate in practice, cornerback Quinton Pointer (thigh) was limited, and tight end Cory Harkey (knee) participated fully.

We'll keep a close eye on the injury report over the next couple of days and report on any changes.
