Sean Weatherspoon Leaves Practice Due to Injury

If you're worried about Sean Weatherspoon leaving the field with an undisclosed injury during the Falcons' combined practice with the Bengals, you can relax, because it's just a badly dislocated finger, per CBS Sports' Jason LaCanfora.

Falcons fans everywhere have been holding their breath since reports surfaced of Sean Weatherspoon leaving the field during today's combined practice with the Cincinnati Bengals after suffering what initially appeared to be a stinger. CBS Sports' NFL insider, Jason LaCanfora, was at the Falcons' facility in Flowery Branch today, and reported that the injury suffered by Weatherspoon is a severely dislocated finger. LaCanfora elaborated that nothing was broken for Spoon.

It's not great news, but Spoon should be prepared to start the season. It could be worse.

Also of note: Julio Jones did not participate much in today's practice. Head coach Mike Smith indicated that limiting Jones' workload was primarily precautionary, and did not elaborate regarding an injury, so it's something to keep an eye on as the week progresses.

We'll have more detailed information posted about today's combined practice in the very near future, but in the meantime, weigh in with your thoughts about Spoon and Julio's injuries.

UPDATE: Mike Smith confirmed this morning that the injury suffered by Weatherspoon was, indeed, a dislocation, and the bad news is that the injury will keep Spoon out indefinitely. Julio Jones is experiencing hamstring tightness, and has been ruled out for Thursday's preseason game against the Bengals.
