Best of luck to punter Sean Sellwood, who was waived by the Falcons Friday afternoon. Honestly, Matt Bosher has had a really strong showing in training camp, and was excellent in Thursday night's game against the Cincinnati Bengals, so this move isn't shocking. Sellwood is an undrafted free agent out of Utah.
The Falcons have also placed right tackle Mike Johnson on injured reserve following a devastating injury during a combined practice with the Bengals on Tuesday afternoon. Johnson dislocated his ankle and also fractured his fibula, and will undergo surgery on Monday. Best wishes to Johnson for a speedy and full recovery.
The Falcons also signed a new offensive tackle, Jeff Nady. Nady was signed by the Jacksonville Jaguars following the 2013 NFL Draft as an undrafted free agent out of Nevada. Nady is huge, 6'7" and 305 pounds, and played left tackle for the Wolfpack. He was a two-time all-conference selection with Nevada, and Dane Brugler's notes on Nady indicate that he needs to work on technique but he has the physical tools to develop into a viable NFL player.
