We may still be stuck in the doldrums of the NFL offseason folks, but let it be known that Falcons football is inching closer and closer, with the team's training camp set to begin on July 25.
Also of note is the "Kia Motors Friday Night Lights" scrimmage, which will be returning for its sixth annual edition on Friday, August 2 at 6:45 p.m. This year, the event is taking place at Bobby Gruhn Field at City Park Stadium, the home turf of Gainesville High School football (note: Gainesville, Ga. and not that other one... we try not to talk about that place).
As always, the Friday Night Lights scrimmage is open to the public and will not charge admission, and it includes a fan festival with games (great for families), an autograph session with the players and also a fireworks display.
In years past, it's been held at other Georgia high schools such as Peachtree Ridge, Norcross and North Gwinnett, and it usually draws a hefty crowd - a testament to the event's lasting popularity.
If nothing else, it's a chance to see your Falcons engage in some friendly competition against one another as the sweat pours off your face in the Georgia summer humidity. And if you're counting, training camp is now 22 days away.
Will you be attending Friday Night Lights this year? Any good memories from years past? Share 'em with us, if you so desire, and as always: go Falcons.
