The Defensive End Battle For The Falcons Should Be Interesting

Don't rule anyone out opposite Osi Umenyiora.

Todd Kirkland

The Falcons defensive end rotation received a healthy infusion of young blood, which is great. The question becomes who starts opposite Osi Umenyiora.

Fortunately, the team has given themselves some options, enough that I really expect this to be one of the best training camp and pre-season battles. Kroy Biermann and Malliciah Goodman would have to be considered the frontrunners, but you can't entirely rule out of Stansly Maponga, Jonathan Massaquoi and (what the hell) Jonathan Babineaux from starting snaps outside. That's a healthy competition.

My money's still on Goodman, because I think he's got all the talent in the world and the Falcons are almost certainly going to give Biermann some time at linebacker. There's finally, finally enough potential talent here to make the battle interesting, even if Osi has things locked up on the other side.

Break it down for us. Who do you think starts opposite Osi?
