You never want to hear that two of your veteran linebackers are injured coming into the summer, but both Stephen Nicholas and Sean Weatherspoon had surgery this off-season.
That's not good news, particularly for a team that has struggled with linebacker depth. What is good news is that both 'Spoon and Nicholas are expected to join the Falcons for mini-camp next week, and that they're expected to be fine for the start of the season as long as there are no setbacks.
For a team looking hard at a bunch of recent UDFAs, a 27-year-old linebacker who hasn't played organized football in a decade and Robert James as possibilities to back these guys up, this couldn't be better news.
What kind of seasons are you expecting from Nicholas and Weatherspoon?
