The Falcons went on a little run signing their draft class, but thanks to a lack of cap space, they stopped once they locked up the fourth round.
Post-June 1, the Falcons have more space to play with, and they've locked up Robert Alford at last. The speedy cornerback and likely returner for your 2013 Atlanta Falcons will need some work before he's ready for a huge role on defense, but he'll be able to chip in early and learn from Asante Samuel and Robert McClain. He's locked up for four years, and it seems likely he'll be at minimum the third cornerback by 2014, when Samuel's contract expires.
Getting Alford locked up means the Falcons now have just two players left to sign: Quarterback Sean Renfree and first-round cornerback Desmond Trufant. Stay tuned, because I imagine those will be coming soon.
Weigh in on the Alford signing!
