Projecting The Final Falcons Roster: Outside Linebacker

Our projection series moves on to outside linebacker, where the mighty Falcons are maybe a little less mighty than they have been in the past.

The problem isn't with Sean Weatherspoon, even though he had a bit of a down year in 2013. It's that the Falcons are not extremely deep at the position and that Stephen Nicholas, while mostly solid, is not an elite player at the position.That's just the way it is.

There may be some shuffling here, shuffling that gives Kroy Biermann or other players traditionally lined up at defensive end a chance to play outside. In the meantime, though, we have to assume the players on the final roster will be

On The Roster

Sean Weatherspoon, Starter
Stephen Nicholas, Starter
Paul Worrilow (R)
Pat Schiller
Joplo Bartu (R)
Nick Clancy (R)
Robert James

Beyond 'Spoon and Nicholas, there simply isn't a lot here. The Falcons have to hope that Schiller emerges or that one of the trio of Bartu, Clancy and Worrilow can step up and deliver some quality play.
