There was plenty of scuttlebutt indicating that the NFL would release its long-awaited regular season schedule this week. It is customary for the league to unleash it on the masses about a week before the draft, as part of an NFL effort to consume every bit of your attention even during the off-season.
Alas, it's not happening. NFL.com's Gregg Rosenthal reports that no date has been set for the release, though it could come either shortly before the draft next week or shortly after the frantic grading of draft picks has died down. This is disappointing, but I suppose a short delay won't kill us.
We do know, thankfully, who the Falcons will be playing in 2013, and it's widely expected to be tougher sledding than 2012. That's bad news for the Falcons, but depending on how the scheduling shakes out, we can hope the Falcons at least won't play their five toughest opponents right in a row or something. If they do, well, damn.
Here's the refresher, per the official site:
HOME
Carolina Panthers
New Orleans Saints
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
St. Louis Rams
Seattle Seahawks
New England Patriots
New York Jets
Washington
AWAY

For those chomping at the bit for the official schedule, what's your best guess as to how it will look?
