Jacquizz Rodgers Has A Concussion, Did Not Practice On Christmas Day

The Falcons' backup running back and kick returner could miss the last week of the season.

Kelley L Cox-USA TODAY Sports

The 49ers game was not kind to the Falcons for reasons entirely apart from the loss. They lost Corey Peters and Zeke Motta for the last game of the season, and Peters in particular is facing a long recovery time for his torn Achilles.

Jacquizz Rodgers didn't escape without harm, either. The team's underrated kick returner and backup running back suffered a concussion against the 49ers, and while it's too early to say he isn't playing, he also isn't practicing yet.

With just one game left and the league being more cautious than ever with getting players cleared to return from concussions, I don't like Rodgers' chances of suiting up on Sunday.

Ditto Sean Weatherspoon, who missed practice with a knee injury. It's been a lost year for 'Spoon, whose future with the team may not be as certain as it seemed coming into 2013. The Falcons could be missing a lot of players for an already tough matchup with Carolina, and if 'Spoon can't go, expect to see plenty of Stephen Nicholas, Paul Worrilow and Joplo Bartu.

Thoughts on the (belated) injury report?
