He's baaaaaaaack. Or at least he will be. Just in time to join in the mediocrity party, the Falcons will reactivate Sean Weatherspoon this week. In turn, a roster move will need to be made to make space for the kicker of butts and generally dynamic linebacker.
Weatherspoon is expect to practice Wednesday when the Falcons begin preparations for Tampa Bay, and his return causes some questions about who the odd man out at the linebacker position will be. Undrafted rookies Paul Worrilow and Joplo Bartu have put together strong seasons and they’re joined by middle linebacker Akeem Dent.
Smith wouldn’t say how that lineup will look Sunday against Tampa Bay as to not give away a competitive advantage.
I'm not certain what the accompanying roster move will be, but to be honest, it doesn't really matter. All that matters is getting Spoon back on the field. He's a leader on this defense. He's a slayer of all things evil. He's the wind beneath my figurative wings.
Don't expect Paul Worrilow or Joplo Bartu to see their playing time cut significantly. The Falcons will ease Spoon back into the lineup, taking it slow inasmuch as they can. Spoon hasn't played since week 2, so even if he felt physically read to go 2 weeks ago, he's still got to catch up mentally (e.g., Steven Jackson).
Penny for your thoughts? Who most likely goes to make room? Will Worrilow or Bartu see less playing time? Discuss!
