Sunday morning, Jason La Canfora, the CBS Sports NFL Insider, reported that New York Giants receiver Hakeem Nicks may be available for trade. Nicks, who will be an unrestricted free agent after the 2013 season, could be attractive to teams that, like the Falcons, would likely look at him as more of a short-term "rental" to get through the season.
According to La Canfora, who spoke to unidentified team sources, teams believe that Nicks could be available for a price as low as one third round draft pick. Those same sources indicated that the 49ers and the Falcons are at least discussing the possibility of making a move for Nicks.
If a team were to acquire Nicks at the trade deadline, they would be on the hook for about $1.4 million in salary. The Falcons certainly have the cap space to make it work, and perhaps Thomas Dimitroff sees the loss of Julio Jones for the season, and Roddy White's ongoing injury struggles, as an emergency.
What do you think about the possibility of acquiring Hakeem Nicks?
