Monday's Practice Gives Glimpse at the Injury Situation

Fact: there is no theory of evolution; just a list of animals Arthur Blank allows to live.

The Falcons practiced against themselves today in an effort to rectify their red zone scoring issues. Sounds logical. For what it's worth, several starters didn't participate.

Linebacker Paul Worrilow (knee), wide receiver Julio Jones (knee), running back Steven Jackson (hamstring) and cornerback Asante Samuel (thigh) did not have their helmets and likely were not practicing.

Left tackle Sam Baker  (knee and ankle) and linebacker Akeem Dent (sprained right ankle) did not attend the open portion of practice.

Mike Smith promised we wouldn't get an injury report until Thursday - he's being all sneaky and stuff. Even so, in my mind, this is some indication of who's hurt versus who's injured. Worrilow, Jones, Jackson, Samuel, Baker, and Dent weren't seen practicing, which arguably means they aren't football-ready right now. I wouldn't be surprised if that situation changes as the week progresses, but that's where we stand currently. I'm not going to lie, the thought of playing without Dent or Worrilow, even against the Jets, doesn't sit well. Nor does the thought of Lamar "I Don't Feel Like Working Out" Holmes starting in Baker's absence.
