I read on the ESPN Power Rankings that the Falcons were taking the opportunity to practice during their bye week, rather than rest up. This was later confirmed by Alex, who has all the hookups I wish I had.
I'm not sure how to feel about this. On one hand, it's great, because it's an extra week of real preparation.
On the other hand, however, the players are expending more energy; energy they probably don't have.
They can't prepare for Washington or Seattle specifically yet, but they can focus on their game plan and go back to the fundamentals of things like, you know, tackling and run blocking.
I imagine this week will still be more of a relaxed practice, but the fact that they're practicing at all shows that they're not content to just ride the pine until next week.
Could this come back to bite them in the rump later, or is the "ritual" of it all good for the team?
I think it's good the coaches are trying something different. Hopefully it'll work out whatever kinks are left with the team and, who knows, maybe the practice will propel them into something.......super.
What are your thoughts on the matter?
