Falcons Banged Up Heading Into Broncos Game

The Atlanta Falcons will have a tough time with the Denver Broncos. They certainly didn't need any injury-related question marks to add a further degree of difficulty.

Unfortunately, the Falcons have listed Sean Weatherspoon, Tyson Clabo and Roddy White as questionable. Here's the rundown on those three injuries, how likely each is to play and how that will affect the team's fortunes in the game ahead and whether you should go ahead and start 'em on your fantasy team. I'm the Swiss Army Knife of advice.

  • According to the team's site, Roddy White was a full participant in practice today. That means he's likely to play, keeping the Falcons' insanely effective receiving group intact. That means the Broncos can't just key in on Julio Jones all game long. Start him with confidence.
  • Clabo, meanwhile, did not practice on Thursday and only had limited practices on both Friday and Saturday. If the Falcons are without Clabo, that makes the Broncos' pas rush even more effective. Mike Johnson would start if he could not, and however you feel about Johnson, the Falcons would have a much harder time in both the ground and aerial game without Clabo. Downgrade Turner in particular if Tyson can't go.
  • Sean Weatherspoon was a limited practice on all three days. He's truly questionable to go, probably a 50/50 chance, and without him the Falcons are obviously a little less athletic and dynamic on defense. When you consider that Robert James or Mike Peterson may be his replacement, and that's a huge downgrade in every sense of the word. He's a risky IDP play.
Robert James is also probable. What's your reaction to this injury report?
