The Atlanta Falcons Injury Report, Pre Bengals Game

We'll start the official injury reports in earnest once the season starts, but I thought it would be wise to catch up on the status of our favorite birds with busted wings.

The Falcons won't dress two players for Thursday night's game against the Bengals, both due to injury. The first is Akeem Dent, who suffered a concussion against the Ravens and is being held out as a matter of course. Considering Dent is the easy favorite for starting middle linebacker duties, the team is smart not to rush him back.

The other injury is to rookie Louis Nzegwu, a popular sleeper pick among the Falcon faithful this off-season. He was quiet in very limited snaps in the Ravens game before injuring his leg, and he'll miss at least this game. It's a disappointing for a player who needed an excellent pre-season just to hang around on the practice squad, but these things happen. I hope he recovers swiftly.

Barring any freak injuries, those two will miss the game, along with Corey Peters and Vance Walker, who are out with long-term injuries. Walker is actually practicing, as a couple of alert readers have pointed out in the comments.

Weigh in on who's out.
