Predicting Tony Gonzalez Version 2.0

I know we covered this earlier in the off-season. And now the season's right around the corner. So we're doing it again. Take that!

We rely heavily on Tony Gonzalez, maybe more than we ought to. But he's used to that. He's only had fewer than 70 receptions 3 times in his 15 year career. Koetter didn't rely heavily on Marcedes Lewis last year, though Lewis is far less talented. Then again, Jacksonville doesn't have Roddy White and Julio Jones.

"I had a chance to watch film today on Marcedes and see what he was able to do in this system and it looked good," Gonzalez said. "One thing about Coach Koetter, is that he’s going with what’s good for the players. I love that in a coach; put players in a position to be successful. It’s not about his system, it’s about what works and what Matt [Ryan] is comfortable with because obviously he’s the one driving the train."

I tend to think Gonzalez's reception total will fall off a little bit. Nothing too drastic; just 15-20 fewer than the 80 he had last year.
