Don't Be Surprised If Meier Is Cut

(Quick Update: The Falcons released Manuwai in between practices today. That's cutthroat, man.)

As I was spelunking around the mother site, I saw that Kevin Cone has had a good camp so far. It got me thinking, 'What if the coaching staff is essentially going to hold an open competition for WR4 and 5?'

It's certainly a possibility. I like Meier as much as the next guy, but lately there hasn't been anything that has stood out about him to me. He's a pretty solidly built guy who would likely take the Finneran possession role, but other than the fact that we drafted him, he hasn't done a whole lot since he came to the team.

James Rodgers is a fan favorite, and Kevin Cone - a local product - is a flamethrower who appears to be getting progressively better. In fact, it wouldn't be a stretch to say Cone could be faster than Cody Pearcy.

Meier has shown some great talent, but he's been hurt and still hasn't done much aside from special team work. Cone and Rodgers 2 might not offer much more, but if they show more talent in the receiver department, they might be kept over Meier.

Thoughts?
