Massaquoi is a Skinny Professional

OK ... maybe he isn't skinny. But he's back at 260 pounds. Why? Because his boss told him to lose the weight. And he did. Know what that's called? Professionalism.

Massaquoi has the NFL in his blood - two of his cousins are NFLers. He's approaching his new job like a job. Novel concept.

The 24-year old said during minicamp that he’s approaching being a paid professional player exactly as he should: acknowledging that it’s a real job.

"It’s definitely a full-time job," he said. "I’m just happy they signed me, I’m happy I’m in this position. I’m blessed to be here. All I can is bring everything I’ve learned over my years in college and bring it to the table ..."

He's only been a football player for 6 years. 6 years! Dave's been a Rogaine user longer than that.

I'll be honest, the kid is raw. The technique isn't there. The body positioning isn't there. The in-game discipline isn't there. He won't start anytime soon and he may get the Sidbury treatment in 2012. But that won't last forever. He's too dynamic and he has too much natural talent to warm the bench indefinitely.

On another team, he'd struggle to find a role, at least for a while. But on this team, with this defensive coordinator, he'll be asked to contribute. How much and when are to be determined.

Discuss!
