What's Your Opinion of Thomas Dimitroff?

New, comments

There will be a followup post to this in a few days with a detailed look at Dimitroff's body of work as compared to other GMs around the league. I haven't done a whole bunch of research on it yet, but I think I have a pretty compelling case ahead of me.

In any case, this is a thread for you all to express your opinion of good old Comrade. I have a feeling there are a pretty good variety of opinions of him out there and I'd like to hear them so that I might build my upcoming argument around them and maaaayyybe debunk a few of them.

If you want my opinion, I'll keep it brief here (the big opinion comes in a few days). I don't think he's been perfect, but I think he's made decisions based on what he felt was best for the team, even if it didn't always mean landing the best players.

Looking at the whole body of work, I think our progress has been relatively stagnant since as far back as the end of the 2009 season. Small steps forward, maybe. I can't say I feel like we've gone backwards, we just haven't gone forwards. That's just my opinion, though. I don't think the blame falls solely on him, also.

If you feel like he's a genius, then please tell us why you think he's a genius. If you think he's a moron, feel free to say so (please keep it tame and clean!) and expect to have to defend your point.
