Lofton to the Saints?

New, comments

Oh man. This report makes me nausous.

Former Falcons middle linebacker Curtis Lofton, who is an unrestricted free agent, is set to visit the New Orleans Saints, Lofton’s representatives confirmed to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

The Falcons will attempt to replace Lofton with Lofa Tatupu, 29, a three-time Pro Bowler who did not play last season. Also, Akeem Dent will get a chance to win playing time.

The Falcons held talks with Lofton’s representatives at the scouting combine in Indianapolis. The talks were termed as amicable, but the team has elected to move in another direction.

Why?! [insert hysterical sobbing]

Anyone but them.

I can't stand the thought of Lofton playing for those chumps our biggest rival. I don't know if he's having a Keith Brooking moment, but that wouldn't surprise me, especially if the rumors about Nolan thinking he's not a 3 down LB are true. Then again, the fact that the Falcons had talks with his representatives is telling. It shows that the team actually considered re-signing him. And let's be honest, if they considered re-signing him, I'd doubt they no longer consider him serviceable.
