Roddy White Puts Up Sixth Straight 1,000 Yard Season

The man, the myth, the legend.

Marc Serota

The Atlanta Falcons have produced some great wide receivers in their history. The best might just be Roddy White.

Today in Tampa Bay, Roddy had his most pedestrian day in a while, reeling in just five catches for 57 yards. That put him over 1,000 yards, though, and that's the sixth straight season in which he passed that yardage total. If you want to get a sense of just how awesome White is, here's a quick look at where he stands on the all-time receiving list:

  • 1st in receptions with 592
  • 1st in yardage with 8,320
  • 3rd in touchdowns with 49

Those six seasons in a row have catapulted White to among the league's elite, and his ability to get open surpasses guys who run faster, stand three inches taller and run even crisper routes. He's just an amazing wide receiver, and he's been a big part of the team's unreal success over the last few years.

The next milestone would be 50 touchdowns, which he can hit pretty easily, and then 600 receptions, which should happen soon, and then 9,000 yards, which isn't likely to happen until 2013. Run-on sentences are fun when you're talking about Roddy White.

Talk about Roddy right here.
