Think of the history of the Falcons.
They're rapidly approaching 50 years in existence. They've made one Super Bowl, several deep playoff runs and had decades worth of embarrassing years. I think we'd all agree that in terms of regular season success, these Falcons are the best of all-time, even when you account for everything that's come before that.
Now there's a new record, and it's one of the most impressive in a long string of successes achieved under Mike Smith and Thomas Dimitroff. The Falcons moved to 5-0 for the first time in franchise history. They had only gone 4-0 two times before this season, and had never managed to win their first five games. Ever.
To pull that off in today's hyper-competitive NFL, against talented football teams and fighting through weather and mistakes, is nothing short of astounding. I couldn't let this go by without spending a short article talking about it, because no matter how many fixes are necessary, they're still unbelievably good.
Take a moment to reflect today. We're in the midst of something special.
