The Atlanta Falcons aren't particularly likely to make a move at the trade deadline this year, but it's certainly not outside the realm of possibility. You can bet they'll be a little movement as a few desperate teams try to salvage their seasons and a few others all but pack it in.
The Falcons are 7-0 and rolling, so they're not likely to be big buyers unless there's a weakness they think they can fill without major expense. The trade deadline has also been moved to Thursday at 4 p.m., so there's that.
There's one player I could see the Falcons targeting, if the price is right, and that man is DeAngelo Williams.
Think of it this way: Williams is an afterthought in Carolina, he's signed to a long-term deal and the Falcons ground game has been completely ineffective throughout most of the season. If you believe that problem is solely on the line, then you grit your teeth and move ahead with the backs you've got. If you don't...maybe you take a shot at DeAngelo Williams.
If the Falcons can make the cap figures work and only have to expend a fourth or fifth round pick to get him, I could definitely see this happening, though I wouldn't imagine Michael Turner would be all that thrilled. It would create a major logjam at the position if the Falcons couldn't trade another back away, so again, unlikely. But possible.
Who, if anyone, do you see the Falcons chasing? Sound off!
