Falcons TWESTOTE of the Day: Cam Smam

If you haven't seen DOL's article about what some of our defensive players think of Cam Newton, it's definitely worth reading.

"Cam Newton is a very athletic quarterback," Lofton said. "It doesn’t bode very well for him, not being able to go through OTAs and these minicamps and stuff. It’s a lot and they are going to have to cut the playbook down. As a defensive guy, I kind of enjoy that. It kind of gives us the advantage. But he’s going to bring a lot of athleticism to Carolina’s offense."

You can almost hear the sarcasm in Lofton's voice when you read that. And I love it. His surgically-repaired knees are holding up and he's been very fluid in "mini-camp practices" thus far. The confidence he's exuding is totally justifiable.

He's not being disrespectful. Not at all. Cam just needs to earn that next-level respect. Athletic as he is, he still has to produce, which is no small feat in this division. Admittedly, the NFC South hasn't seen a prospect of this caliber in recent years. Yet our boys are responding with gusto, which is very encouraging in my mind. Plus none of what Lofton said is factually inaccurate. It's TBD whether Cam can handle the terminology associated with QBing in the NFL. If anything, it may keep him from starting right away, and I don't mind that one bit.

As always, curious what y'all think. Discuss!
