Saturday Six Pack: Inching Closer to the Draft Edition 4/9/11

If the gov't had shut down, you could expect many, many of these to have been potentially consumed in the chaos. Thankfully, the disaster was averted, to my knowledge.

If I post anymore articles that have already been covered on here, smackdown will be had.

Today marks the 3 week mark until the draft, and it's also 3 weeks until we finally have something to talk about aside from living in the past and "Hey, we worked this guy out today." Personally, I can't wait. The draft is probably one of my favorite times of year, for sure. Anywho, let's see if we can conjure up some Falcons news!

As always, let's get this Saturday Six Pack rockin'!

DOL: As always, the ever-reliable DOL has provided us some insight from a call with Mel Kiper. Kiper has us going DE/WR/RB in the first three rounds, and personally I'd be alright with the three picks he predicts us getting (Clayborn, Jernigan, Murray). It's a good read, no matter what your opinion of Kiper is.

National Football Post: Gabe Carimi is going to work out for the Falcons next week. In the article, he sure is showing a lot of confidence. Not that that's a bad thing, but I think some people take it too far. I'm afraid Gabe might be taking it a bit too far, though I'll agree he's a talented player. Gotta love the draft.

Behind the Steel Curtain: If you're like me, you love looking at anyone and everyone's mock draft because it's fun to see what other people (especially those not biased towards your team) think about your team's needs and wants. Here is rounds 4-7 (Rounds 1-3 here. Yes, I linked these backwards. Who does things correctly anymore?) This is contributor Big Jay's mock draft. I respect everyone's opinion, however I'm not sure William Moore needs replacing. It's still worth a look if you're a mock draft junkie like myself.

AF.com: Our Falcoholic friend Jay Adams asks if we might still pick Kyle Rudolph in round one. He makes a pretty interesting case about tanking a super need now in the hopes that we'll land some quality picks in the later rounds. It's very possible. Our 3rd round picks in recent history (HD, DeCoud) have turned out alright.

Walter Football: Here is the second half of Walter Football's super duper mock draft, if only because there's nothing else to talk about in the dead of the offseason. However, their pick for us is Brooks Reed, a guy of whom I have admittedly not seen or heard a single thing. He seems like an alright guy, but the thing that really got me was the tidbit about Torrey Smith earning his degree in 2.5 years. THAT is impressive.

Random Funny: This image. Seriously, how amazingly terrifying is that photo? I wish I knew what country it came from, so I would NEVER, EVER go there.
