Saturday Six Pack: Rookie Offer Leak Edition 4/16/11

On a rainy Saturday for those of us on the east coast, it's a good day to sit back and chill out to some of these.
On a rainy Saturday for those of us on the east coast, it's a good day to sit back and chill out to some of these.

Here we are, just two weeks away from the draft, which will give us a feeling of normalcy for the first time in a while with all this lockout hubbub going on. It'll be nice to live and breathe football for a few days again, except that it'll probably be on ESPN, and I'm too poor currently to have that thing we humanfolk call "satellite television". Cable doesn't exist where I live, so whoop-dee-doo. Internet or bust.

We should have an open draft thread so that when we get to our pick, I'll spontaneously start living the pre-lockout days by yelling "SPOOOOOOOOOOON" until I realize we already have Spoon, and then I'll just have my euphoric feeling all over again.

Anywho, let's get this Saturday Six Pack rockin'!

ESPN: I lead with ESPN because of the title of this SSP, because there is a report that rookie wages are being significantly reduced. Since 2000, all first round picks have been paid a cumulative 3.5 billion dollars. Holy smokes. The report suggests an offer has been made to shift a lot of money over to the veterans, which is great. Hopefully that'll stick.

DOL: As always, the ever reliable DOL has provided us with a good read about Dimitroff searching for diamonds in the rough. Comrade has been pretty good at that over the years, drafting players like Vance Walker, Beerman, and Shann Schillinger, among others. I look forward to seeing who Comrade sneaks into the tail end of the draft this year.

Cincy Jungle: Our fellow SBN site Cincy Jungle has been doing a big mock draft the past little while. Why is this important? Well, naturally, they're doing every team. We're being represented by reader TruWhoDey, who faithfully went with the grain and plucked Justin Houston in round 1. However, what caught my eye is who he selected for us in round 2. He picked Ryan Williams, RB, Virginia Tech. I haven't seen that name linked to us ANYWHERE, but it would be a solid pick, in my opinion.

Fox News: A bit off topic, I noticed an article that checked in on Jamal Anderson. It's an article that talks about how he has grown to love hockey and how his son, Dexter, is playing like a champ out in Utah. It's a pretty cool read and it's always cool to see what former Falcons are doing with their lives post-football.

Yahoo!: I'm gonna call this a small spoiler alert, because I don't know exactly which direction Dave's 'Best Draft Picks" posts are going to go, but a fan posted his opinion of the five top Falcons draft steals. He kept his pretty recent, and I don't think all of Dave's will be very recent, but it's still worth a look.

Random Funny: This image. I mean...what's the worst that could happen, right?
