Atlanta Falcons President New Chair Of NFL Competition Committee

Be nice to Rich McKay. He's now at the helm of the NFL Competition Committee.

This isn't unfamiliar turf for McKay, who previously had been the co-chair for 12 years, but this is the first time he's served as the sole chairman of the committee. Jeff Fisher used to be the co-chair before the Titans unceremoniously sacked him.

Why should you care? Well, for one thing, it's a guy associated with the Falcons heading it up. For another thing, this is among the most powerful bodies in the NFL, able to review and recommend rule and policy changes across the league. The seven-member committee thus wields considerable influence, and while I don't expect him to be biased, it certainly is good to have someone who has the team's best interest in mind sitting at the highest chair around the table.

Congratulations, Rich McKay. This news is a few days old, but somehow I thought the player news that's been flying around would be more of a priority for you guys. Hope that's alright.
