Feel the excitement.
I mock, but gently. It's a smart move for the Atlanta Falcons to re-sign Will Svitek, a guy who actually has the size and wingspan to play left tackle, albeit sparingly. The Falcons have used him to spell Sam Baker over the last couple of years and make a couple of spot starts, and he's played about as well as you could reasonably expect a backup to.
If Tyson Clabo walks and the team looks to replace right tackle, they at least know they're set along the left side with Baker/Svitek. For now.
Ken Parrish is an interesting signing. Once the new collective bargaining agreement is in place, Michael Koenen will be an unrestricted free agent, and the Falcons will have to decide if his precision punting ability trumps his sometimes fluffy leg. If they decide it doesn't, they'll need to start looking at other punters.
Parrish is unlikely to be the guy, though everything I've heard indicates he has a strong leg. At worst, though, he'll be a quality camp leg and push Koenen a little, if he's still around. Given that the Falcons are likely paying him virtually nothing for that honor, it's a smart little signing.
