On the heels of their signing of defensive tackle Corey Peters, the Falcons have signed another young defender.
I've already left Schillinger off my roster guess, but I do like him. The Falcons see a productive college safety with a willingness to tackle and an eye for the ball that makes up for anything he might lack in athleticism. I see a guy who would probably benefit from a year on the practice squad, considering that Matt Giordano is perfectly capable of filling the backup/special teams niche while Shazz Schillinger catches up to speed.
Long-term, I think he tops out as a competent backup for William Moore. For a seventh-round pick, though, that would actually be pretty darn good. I'll update this post with contract terms as soon as they become available.
