Sunday Morning Bloody Mary: One Falcon To Watch Is Michael Turner

New, comments

Every week before the Falcons game, I'll be selecting one player to keep an especially close eye on. This week, it's running back Michael Turner.

I like to come up with creative choices for these, but some weeks it's obvious who the key player is going to be.

Michael Turner is the obvious choice this week for two reasons. Number one, he's Michael Turner. The dude's been en fuego the last few games, bulling over fools like an aerodynamic Ferdinand. It's a return to form for the big guy, who has benefited from the revival of the offensive line like few others on the Falcons. Once Turner gets a head of steam, he's unstoppable, and he's getting plenty of opportunity to get the wheels going with the current run-blocking.

Second, these are the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. I shouldn't have to tell you that they're one of the worst teams in the league against the run, ranking 27th overall in yardage allowed. They're simply not that experienced and potent up front, and a big physical back like Turner is a nightmare to deal with.

Add in the likely absence of Jason Snelling and you've got a backfield dominated by the Burner. I don't think predicting a big game from Turner goes far enough, honestly.
