Jason Garrett Shuns The Falcons, Ravens

Quick morning update here, even though I'm sure you've heard by now that Jason Garrett is not walking through that door. With Dimitroff taking the helm, it looks like Rex Ryan is no longer the top choice, either. That leaves the coaching search essentially wide open, and probably means the Falcons will revisit candidates like Mike Singletary before this thing is over.

I know Jason Garrett was the hot name out there, but it was fairly obvious that he'd stay in Dallas. It was even more obvious that the dude was barely considering Atlanta, which made me scrub my hands of him early in the process. In Steve Wyche's article he mentions that Jim Caldwell apparently withdrew his name, as well. As much as I hate to say it, the Falcons may be picking through the coaching scrap heap sooner than later. They should still give Steve Spagnuolo of the Giants a chance to interview, which could mean waiting a few more weeks.

I have to admit that I'm a little relieved that this is slowing down, as every day that passes makes me believe Dimitroff has control over the hiring process.
