Mere hours after I finish ridiculing the Falcons for picking Stephen Nicholas, Demorrio Williams tears a pectoral muscle and will now be out for upwards of five months. If the team knew about this (and c'mon, they obviously did), suddenly the Nicholas choice makes a hell of a lot more sense.
The team's supposedly confirmed that he's going to be working with the first team offense, and there's absolutely no way to argue with that. If they think he can step in, there's not a whole lot of backup talent to argue with that decision. Needless to say, this is not the kind of thing you want to see before the season even starts, but hopefully Williams makes a speedy recovery and is back on the field in the first couple weeks of the season.
And next time you get in the weight room, Demorrio, you may want to consider knocking 20 pounds off that rep.
