I Feel Like I Just Posted This

Another Mora story from the "we kick 'em when they're down" council over at ESPN.com, who once again put Mora's defense of his own record under the microscope. I'm trying very hard to keep the bitterness about this team down, even though I know most of you are probably right there with me. But when Jim Mora says:

"I've been fine," he said. "It's not just me, it's most coaches in this season. I'm not worried about that. What I'm most proud of is the fact that our body of work over three years is impressive."

For Goodell's sake, Jim. Your body of work over the last three years is impressive? I know coaches have to say things like this, but you can't really believe that, can you? This team has absolutely bombed out the second half the last two years. Vick has gone nowhere as a quarterback. For all the young, emerging playmakers, the offense and defense have shown little sign of improvement. No one reading those comments is going to believe that this team has improved. Granted, this is far from being all your fault, but three years? What the hell?

Mora goes on to say that Mike Vick is happy with the offense, which he also has to say but can't really mean, given that Vick figures out a subtle way to bash Greg Knapp nearly every week. Reading this, you get the sense that Mora really would like to keep his job, but his insistence that nothing's wrong and his defense of his coordinators is going to end with him reading the coaching classifieds in February. And to be honest, I'm torn between feeling bad for him and really wishing he wasn't going back and forth between sunshine and flowers denials and telling us what he really wants is another coaching job.
