Frankly, I'd be pretty happy with this outcome on draft day. Matthews may not be an elite physical specimen, true. He will be in on a lot of plays, though, and should do well in coverage given some time. Your thoughts?

This would be another pick that some folks would consider a slight reach, but Hood is a legitimate prospect and his stock is back up after an excellent pro day. The only thing that concerns me--and Bradley notes this--is that he really had a poor senior season. Your thoughts on Hood?

D. Orlando Ledbetter reports that L.J. Smith has balked at joining the Falcons and the team has in turn decided that he'd be a poor fit for their blocking heavy tight end scheme. You may now rejoice.

The Falcons re-signed Jason Snelling, Brent Grimes, Tony Gilbert and Antoine Harris. Snelling ought to compete for carries this fall and Grimes will likely be a nickel or dime back at worst. Gilbert and Harris will be counted on to contribute on special teams, but Vishnu help us if they get on the field on defense.
