Falcons Sign Slightly Less Ancient Kicker Jason Elam
Brief update for tonight; the Falcons have signed Jason Elam to a 4 year, $9 million Treaty of Versailles. There's nothing to dislike about this move, aside from the fact that the Falcons aren't really going young at kicker during a period where they really should be.
Otherwise, Elam offers a solid option with a better long leg than Morten Andersen and a relatively easy commitment to cut ties with if he suddenly loses it. If nothing else, this pisses off our mortal enemy, the Denver Broncos.

Draft
Both Brandon Coutu and Art Carmody are excellent kicking prospects, long-term solutions, and available for a low-round pick.

Actually...
I know that there probably isn't a lot more they could teach the kids about kicking, at least in the skill department. But I am sure there is plenty of cariables that they could pass on to him such as wind patterns in different stadiums. Those things are important to know and I think it would be a valuable lesson to be passed on.
Art Carmody is awesome, but so is the kid from Southern Miss and the one from Army. Wait, I think the one from Southern Miss came out last year, so nevermind. What about that kid from I believe Colorado (or maybe it was Co St) that supposedly kicked a 70 yarder in practice? Hmm, I say Carmody is the pick to get though.
