Trading Up To Grab Landry?

Hogs Haven has an interesting story that they drew from another source. It has the Falcons possibly shooting a 3rd (possibly) round pick to the Redskins in order to move up to #6, with the intention of taking Landry. As you well know, I want the Falcons to get LaRon Landry in any way they possibly can. If we have to swap out a third, I wouldn't necessarily be thrilled. I'd rather keep all our picks in order to ensure a bountiful draft. But if the choice is between giving up a reasonably high draft pick and losing Landry...well, I'll take Landry. Without a doubt.

Big hat tip to Hogs Haven on this one.

I'm really not sure about this
I really don't think this will be necessary for us.  The more I look at the teams ahead of us, I don't see anyone else with the luxury of taking Landry before he hits us at 8.  And anyways, I'm loathe to give up an extra draft pick, because the more I look at how UoL played under Petrino, the more I think he's definitely going to do some wholesale replacements in the next few years.  We might as well get as much as possible out of this draft now, when we don't have to draft at any one particular position (as opposed to a team like the Raiders, who really have to burn at least one draft pick on a QB).  I mean, the more freedom we have this year to take people to groom, the better.

I didn't think so either
I agree we could really use the draft picks, and I'm a little puzzled as to why the Vikings would draft Landry after just signing Doss. But the rumors are definitely flying about the Purple Mediocre Machine's interest, and as much as it pains me to say so, I would give up a pick if someone is going to steal Landry in front of us. If we're lucky, though, that won't happen.

Wouldn't discount
the Redskins taking Landry at #6. I think they'd be more than willing to trade down to take extra picks, but that doesn't mean they'll pass on Landry if/when he falls. They haven't acted that interested in either Adams or Anderson. It might end up as an either/or proposition, with the Redskins and Atlanta splitting Okoye/Landry. Depending on who you guys value more, you might have to trade up to get your man.
