Around SBN: Nevin Shapiro Vows To Bring Down Miami

Who Should We Draft?

I'm renewing my clarion call for opinions here, as the SBNation draft looms over my head like a looming loom. My preference is of absolutely no secret to any of you; I've been advocating either freakishly athletic LaRon Landry or consistent Reggie Nelson to fill the supermassive black hole that has become our safety situation. To paraphrase the immortal RZA, Lawyer Milloy and Chris Crocker often do not appear capable of punching their way out of a wet paper bag with scissors in their hands when it comes to pass coverage. Either of those players would represent a staggering upgrade to one of our weakest positions. Now that we've got the #8 pick, though, people will argue that we should snap up a great defensive end, the potent Calvin Johnson, or even Adrian Peterson (note: I missed the part where we had a crappy running game last year).

So where do you all stand?

Laron Landry
It was painfully obvious last season that we again lacked a young athletic safety who can stick with the deep threats that pervade our division.  Landry is the most talented safety in the draft and isn't a reach at 8.

Excellent
Glad we agree on that one. I was leaning toward Nelson for a while, but Landry's freaky athleticism is too intriguing.

One more note
That draft is really out dated, we are working up a new one that should be up within the next 7-10 days.  Hope you enjoy the site.

Shameless plug
In the BGN mock draft I had the Falcons taking LaRon Landry...

CJ
Not that I'm biased or anything, but it would be so awesome to have Calvin Johnson stay in Atlanta.  He could be the Falcons' Jeff Francouer, in the hometown hero aspect.

That said, LaRon Landry is certainly the smart pick.

Believe me
Having someone that freakishly talented at WR would make me really happy. I just feel like the Falcons will have to give up way too much in order to move up there. I still wouldn't put it past McKay, though; he'd be a huge name here in Atlanta.
