Please Help Us Out With An SB Nation Suvey

SB Nation is conducting a survey and asking for feedback. You've probably noticed quite a few ad campaigns whirling around the site this year, and this survey will give you the opportunity to offer feedback on those.

The survey will help SB Nation improve your visit to our family of sites. It does take five minutes, so it's not lighting quick, but there are only a couple screens to click through.

The three SB Nation sites with the highest percentage of completed surveys will have a $500 donation to the charity of our choice made by SB Nation.

To take the survey, please click here:

Thanks everyone!

Fantasy Football Discussion: Does It Change Football For You?

Yes, this is another post sponsored by CBSSports.com. Yes, I'm going tell you to check out that crazy 50% offer for a Commissioner League over there. No, you do not get to object!

But that out of the way, I'm interested in an age-old discussion about fantasy football. When you first got into a fantasy football league, did it erode your support for the Atlanta Falcons? Does it consume more of your time that might have once gone only to the Dirty Birds?

I ask because it's something I've seen happen to friends. Somehow, the need to juggle a team of players from around the NFL leads to a diffusion of attention, and your actual favorite team is the one that suffers. I can't say that's happened to me, but then again, I've been a case study in devotion since I was a seven-year-old kid reading game scores in the Portland Press Herald over breakfast. Hard for a fantasy team to pull that away.

Your thoughts?

CBSSports.com Discussion: Are You A Fantasy Homer?

Kicking it on a Sunday with a sponsored post. You know how it is.

Basically, I'm asking today if you find yourself starting at Matt Ryan in your draft queue and clicking frantically, even if it's the first pick of the draft. Do you put having Falcons on your team ahead of winning, or do you believe the two are not mutually exclusive? Do people constantly make you offers that involve Michael Turner and Michael Jenkins, just in the hopes of reeling you in?

Personally, I've only had three Falcons on my team in the history of my keeper league, which spans five seasons. Those guys were Jenkins (!), Jason Snelling and Steve Hauschka. Sadly, no Turners or Ices in sight.

As usual, I have to remind you that CBSSports.com is offering a pretty sweet deal for those of you who want to jump-start your own league. It's half off, and if you're into fantasy football I'd highly encourage you to check it out. I'm in a keeper league at the site now and it's a great one.

And finally...I'm missing the twelfth team in the official Falcoholic league over at CBSSports.com. If you're that guy who hasn't yet responded, please do so within the week, or your slot is in jeopardy.

The Falcoholic Fantasy League Roster Is Set

Ah, CBSSports.com. Your gifts are like the gifts of the Three Magi, except with less myrrh.

So as promised, I sat down yesterday afternoon and drew nine names out of a hat. This was done randomly to ensure that you didn't come burn down my house, and yielded a list of nine winners. If for some reason one of our illustrious authors or winners drops out, there may be an additional space, but for now our roster for the top-flight Commissioner league is set.

Here's the list of winners in our little drawing:

hooshman
mardygilyards1stfalconspick
tapate50
Mattyice318
Jeff S
redfalcon2
mc29012
maxxj3
ATLsince1972

All of you who made it (yay!) need to e-mail me ASAP at davethefalconer@yahoo.com so I can give you the league information.

For those of you who have been scorned by the capricious nature of my hat, I would urge you to take advantage of the awesome half-off deal that CBSSports.com is having on Commissioner leagues. I can assure you from experience that it's well worth the money, particularly when it ends up being about $7.50 a person in 12-team leagues.

Thanks to everyone who showed interest, and for the lucky nine, prepare to be annihilated!

The Falcoholic Fantasy Football League, Now On CBSSports.com

In past years, your teams have pulverized mine in fantasy football.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the sense of camraderie these leagues have fostered. I've enjoyed watching you guys draft and put together totally awesome squads that leave me a hollowed-out shell of a man, clutching his collapsing roster as the ruins of my life burn around me. That's pretty great.

But this year, you jerks are on my home turf. For the first time, we're pull together a top-end Commisioner league on CBSSports.com, where my dynasty football team has lurked for the last five years. Thanks to the fine folks at CBSSports.com, we have one official 12 team league this season, and I want to populate it with the baddest, the meanest and the toughest fantasy footballers The Falcoholic has to offer.

What sets the Commissioner league apart, you ask? Here's what:

  • Customization of entire league…rules, scores, teams and more

  • Multiple draft options including auction drafts

  • Ability to manage your league and team on your mobile phone

  • Expert and user generated analysis

  • Live chat/league instant messenger

  • Fast and incredibly accurate live scoring

  • Archived historic league data for future seasons

Not bad, right? You're probably asking yourself what you have to do to get into a fine league like this, but don't worry: No extortion, handcuffs or incriminating photographs are involved. All you have to do is indicate an interest in the comments section and I will draw your name out of an Atlanta Falcons hat. Myself, Adam Schultz and Jason Kirk will be headlining this league—mostly so you can rub it in our faces for months after your team beats the red-and-black snot out of ours—but that leaves nine open spots. There will be no fee to enter, and I'm mulling potential prizes as we speak.

But that's not all, I say in my best pitchman's voice (RIP Billy Mays). For those of you left out or too good for us rank-and-file, CBSSports.com is also offering a pretty sweet deal. Thanks to the magic of promotional offers and the fact that you know me—hey, it had to pay off eventually!—you can get a Commissioner league going for half price. That's right, knock 50% off for an ending price of $89.99 and a 14 day free trial. If you set up a 12 team league, that means everyone's only paying....let me fire up my calculator...everyone's only paying about $7.50. As someone who has used Commissioner leagues in the past and enjoyed the hell out of them, I highly encourage you to check out the offer by visiting here!

After all, don't you want to impress your friends by offering a league without leaky pipes and rotting floorboards? Of course you do, vain reader. Again, visit here.

Throughout the next several weeks, we'll be featuring a sponsored post a week thanks to CBSSports.com, where we'll talk fantasy smack talk, leagues, past history and more. Please feel free to suggest post ideas at davethefalconer@yahoo.com. And with that done, you know we're heading for the boilerplate!

CBSSports.com is an SB Nation partner and paying sponsor of the SB Nation football communities. This post is one of a series of sponsor endorsed posts related to the CBSSports.com Fantasy Football Commissioner League.

Falcons Game Changing Move: Signing Of CB Dunta Robinson

Sponsored Post: This post is presented by Sprint. Bringing you the first wireless 4G network from a national carrier. Only on the Now Network.

A sponsored post immediately after the draft, you say? Yes, but it's a pertinent one.

With the selection of cornerback Dominique Franks, it's worth re-visiting one of the biggest moves of the Atlanta Falcons' off-season. I am, of course, referring to:

Game Changing Move #1: Free Agent Signing of Cornerback Dunta Robinson

With all the love going around for our youngest cornerbacks and the selection of Franks, it's easy to forget that that Dunta might be our most critical piece in 2010.

Comcast To Sponsor The Falcoholic In 2010

Last year, you may remember when I announced from my diamond-encrusted throne that Comcast would be sponsoring The Falcoholic. Guess what? They loved us so much, they're back!

This is most relevant for those of you who like the Red Zone channel on Comcast, but it's also a sign of how well our humble little site has done over the past year or so that a company like Comcast is willing to sponsor our rantings and ravings. It might also be a sign that they've never read said rantings and ravings, but that's not relevant at the moment. For those of you not in the know, the Red Zone channel gives you the opportunity to whip back and forth between games whenever a team gets inside the 20, extremely useful for those of you who play fantasy football, like to keep track of multiple teams or just want to see people score (ignore the obvious joke). If you've got Comcast, it's worth checking out.

What else will Comcast be doing that's football related, and would therefore make them want to sponsor the SB Nation network that we all know and (hopefully) love? Glad you asked. Courtesy of the company's crack squad of ninja marketers, here's a few points:

* Comcast's cable lineup, including NFL Network, will offer wall-to-wall draft coverage including a live broadcast of the draft

* NFL Network on Demand on Comcast will complement all the live draft coverage with profiles of the 100 top prospects available leading up to the draft

* Comcast's NFL programming will also include extensive training camp coverage, preseason game broadcasts and full coverage of Hall of Fame weekend

* During the regular season, NFL Network on Demand lets you re-watch every NFL game as soon as 24 hours following it's original airing

* Red Zone will be back on Comcast for a second season

That 100th prospect? Whoever the Oakland Raiders take with their first round pick, of course.

I'll keep all of you posted on any special deals or incentives Comcast may be offering to readers of SB Nation or The Falcoholic, but in the meantime, talk Red Zone channel, the Falcons' red zone performance or anything related to the warming glow of good ol' television. Or call me a sellout. I can use these wads of cash as earplugs.

Comcast Sponsors The Falcoholic

This is a sponsored post. Just so you know.

I, Dave the Falconer, am using this space to announce that this blog now has a sponsor for the season. Our network was approached by Comcast, who is looking to get the word out about Comcast Redzone (http://www.comcast.com/Corporate/Programming/sports/SEPackage.html) and they knew the best way to reach hardcore NFL fans was through SB Nation blogs, because we rock. Fact of life. Obviously, it's nice to have a sponsor of Comcast's caliber, and since they're offering something I would actually use, so much the better.

We won’t be bombarding you with marketing messages, but we’ll remind you every once in a while about some of the great sports features available from Comcast, like Redzone. For a sixpence at least and a tuppence at most, you'll get the Redzone Channel which shows all the redzone action on NFL Sunday as its happening.

This weekend on Sunday, Oct. 4th, they’ll provide Redzone for free on Comcast from 1-4 PM EST. Unfortunately for us, it's during our bye week. If Thomas DeCoud gets a high score in Tetris, however, you'll be the first to know. Plus, there's the On Demand content from the NFL network including game recaps of every game, every week; draft profiles, player profiles, Matt Ryan's favorite Radiohead song, and the like.

So that's that. Wanted to take a little time to give a shout out to Comcast for agreeing to sponsor us and let you guys know about the Redzone package. In the future, we'll wrap in some discussion of the team's redzone work when we bring up Comcast, so you're forewarned.
