Super Bowl XLVI Open Thread

Official Super Bowl XLIV logo

The New England Patriots. The New York Giants. A rematch of 2007 and stuff!

The Super Bowl doesn't feature any teams I hold a particular regard for, so I'll be watching this purely as a fan of football. On those merits, this ought to be a fun game, replete with scoring and some half-hearted stabs at defense. This is also a huge game up in my neck of the woods, since the Pats are returning to the Super Bowl for the first time since getting dropped by the Giants.

Enjoy the game!

Pro Bowl Open Thread

It's the least important game of the year! Get excited!

The Atlanta Falcons are barely represented here, but oh well. It's the second-to-last NFL game you're going to get this year, so it might as well count for something.

Talk it out!

NFL Senior Bowl Weigh-In Discussion

Yes, it's that magical time of year where scouts practically salivate over how heavy NFL prospects are and how long their arms are. No, there's nothing weird about that at all.

Use this thread to discuss intriguing prospects, particularly those who might actually make it to the Atlanta Falcons. I'll drift in and out.

49ers-Giants NFC Championship Open Thread

The George S. Basically, this is the NFC version of the game you just watched. One team that's mostly offense versus a team that's mostly defense.

Still, I think you could make the reasonable argument that these teams are a little more balanced. The 49ers showed they could hang in with the high-octane Saints last weekend, while the Giants played pretty good defense against both the Packers and Falcons.

I'm actually looking forward to watching this one. Hope you'll join me in tracking all the action and sharing here at The Falcoholic.

Patriots-Ravens AFC Championship Open Thread

The Baltimore Ravens love grinding it out. If they had their way, every single play would be a rush by Ray Rice. After all, why bother doing anything else when Rice is so good and their defense even better?

If the New England Patriots had it their way, they'd do nothing but throw. Why run when you have Rob Gronkowski, Aaron Hernandez, Wes Welker, Deion Branch and a cast of receivers a mile long? Who needs a ground game or defense?

These two vastly different styles meet up for the AFC Championship Game. Follow along with all the action here.

Giants-Packers Playoff Open Thread

Last year's Super Bowl champions and the team who dumped the Falcons in 2010 against the team that beat the Falcons in the playoffs this season. Such a joy.

It should be a good game, though. Winner gets the 49ers. Watch and enjoy.

Ravens-Texans Open Thread

One team is starting a rookie quarterback and is banged up on both sides of the ball. The other team is the Ravens.

Baltimore should walk away with this one, but it's rarely that simple. Watch it and see who gets to face a rolling Patriots team in the AFC Championship Game.

Enjoy!

Patriots-Broncos Playoff Open Thread

Less thrilling than Niners-Saints for the average Falcons fan, but still could be a good game.

In one corner, you have the high-powered Patriots offense, led by Tom Brady and the incredible Rob Gronkowski. They pair that offense with one of the worst pass defenses in NFL history, and a run defense that's only marginally better.

In the other corner, Tim Tebow and his weird powers of winning. The Broncos run well and can get after the passer, but on paper this should be a game the Patriots win easily.

Root for who you will.
