The player rep for Stanford Routt indicated the free agent CB already has visits planned with the Titans and Bills.
That was quick. Routt is a press corner with a dynamic size/speed package, but he led all cornerbacks with nine touchdowns allowed and 17 penalties last season. In his defense, the Raiders' scheme didn't help. Rotoworld's Evan Silva ranks Routt fourth behind Brent Grimes, Cortland Finnegan, and Brandon Carr among free agent corners. The Titans likely view him as a replacement for Finnegan. Feb 9 - 8:43 PM

On the Patriots' dual-thread tight ends: "You could see [in 2010] what they were trying to do with that personnel," said Atlanta Falcons coach Mike Smith, who has referred to Gronkowski and Hernandez as the equivalent of "queens on the chessboard. You move those guys around according to how the defense is trying to defend you. If you want to play standard personnel on defense, they flex one or both of those guys out and force you to cover them with linebackers. If you put extra defensive backs in, they line up in double-[tight end] and maul you. You never have the right personnel on the field."
Petersen joined Boise State's staff from Oregon, where he joined up with fellow Oregon defect Dan Hawkins, who, in turn, had joined Koetter at BSU after Koetter left Oregon in 1997. In one of the many layers of intrigue in this game, Petersen has said the Boise State offense really just grew out of the Mike Belloti/Dirk Koetter/Jeff Tedford system at Oregon, especially ironic now that the Ducks themselves run something entirely different, the Chip Kelly spread.

Will The Falcons Be One and Done?
If we don't face a NFC East team than we will, at least in my mind. How about you?
Does it matter if your quarterback can’t throw long with any success? Of Keating’s top 10 deep passers, eight preside over teams with winning records. Of the 10 lowest-ranked deep passers, only one plays for a winning team — Matt Ryan. This would seem to indicate that the Falcons are doing it the hard way.
Mark Bradley on ESPN study of deep ball success
Interesting stuff for sure.
New feature starting this week: Falcoholic Wall of Fame. I take the best Game Thread comments and feature them Wednesday/Thursday. Similar set up to my Tweets of the Game, but this post will be much more relevant to our humble community here. So if you're reading this and you don't comment in the Game Threads, this weekend's the best time to start.
