TE Robbie Agnone Placed On Injured Reserve

Our practice squad tight end is done for the season. Taking his place is tight end Marquez Branson, per the AJC's D. Orlando Ledbetter.

It turns out that three of the Falcons' big-name veterans are stepping up their games in unheralded ways, along with an unsung candidate for defensive player of the year. That is a big statement to make, but Brent Grimes is backing it up with terrific coverage numbers. Grimes had more than solid metrics last season, as his 6.7 yards per attempt (YPA) mark ranked him in the upper third of the league in that category, but he has taken it up a notch this year. He has allowed only 124 completion/penalty yards on 27 pass attempts. That equates to a 4.6 YPA, which is only a yard per attempt more than Darrelle Revis posted last year in his coverage season for the ages. Atlanta has been in dire need of a true No. 1 cornerback for a long time and Grimes has provided that.

Raheem Morris Should Stop Talking

I have an enormous amount of respect for the Bucs, but I'm rapidly losing it for their coach. He said the following: "Stats are for losers, so you keep looking at stats and we'll keep looking at wins," Morris said a day after Tampa Bay improved to 4-2 with an 18-17 win over the Rams at Raymond James Stadium. I mean, you are what your record says you are in this league, and right now we're tied for the fewest losses (in the National Football Conference), so that makes us the best team." Maybe he was kidding. The alternative is that he's breathtakingly stupid and making an argument that doesn't make any sense, because A) wins count as stats and B) you don't have as many WINS as other teams in the NFC. Gah!

Also, Pro Bowl voting is up and running, for some reason. I made a case for Matt Ryan as the NFC starter, with more recommendations on the way.

Tampa Bay Bucs Coach Raheem Morris, Master Of Hyperbole

I respect what the Bucs have done this season. It's an impressive story, and they've gritted out some tough wins. They are not the best team in the NFC. They're not even in the best team in their own division.
