An Underrated Addition of Dan Quinn Hire

First off I would like to congratulate Dan Quinn on becoming the new head coach of the Atlanta Falcons and I believe he has a chance to be a special coach for us. While the Falcons' fanbase is (rightfully so) excited about Quinn's defensive philosophies and training under many well respected coaches in both college and professional football, I believe we are missing one potentially underrated addition Quinn could add to the team.

For years under the watch of Thomas Dimitroff as the G.M. this team has been assembled under what we have come to know as the "Comrade Filter", which basically means if you didn't have a picture perfect background check then the Falcons weren't going to draft you. While, Dimitroff has worked on easing up his filter a little bit, I still wouldn't exactly call the Falcons a team willing to take risks.

With Dan Quinn having not only control of the final roster but also an opinion on what type of players he wants in his system I believe the Falcons might be willing to take chances on players that they might have not before. Quinn has made it know that he wants players with "grit", which is something I can say only a handful of players on the roster truly posses i.e. William Moore, Julio Jones, Desmond Trufant. Now I don't expect us to compile a team of felons but I do think we will start to think twice before taking guys off our draft board because of a bad decision they made in college. Which I mean seriously who hasn't done that?
