Look, we all know the Pro Bowl is at best a popularity contest where a bunch of overmuscled and downright overweight football players smile gamely at the prospect of playing a glorified flag football game in a warm climate while the NFL continues to print money, but hey, there are some Falcons in it.
Quarterback Matt Ryan, wide receiver Julio Jones, and receiver/returner Devin Hester are the three Falcons representatives this year, and that's the kind of haul you'd anticipate for a team that went 6-10 and played in the most forgettable division in football. We'll hopefully see better representation in this glorified pageant next year.
For those who aren't familiar with the way the Pro Bowl is done these days, Cris Carter and Michael Irvin are the captains, and each will select a full roster. Ryan and Julio have yet to be selected, while Hester is team Carter.
If the Pro Bowl draft is the kind of thing that tickles your fancy, then be sure to tune in tonight at 8 p.m. on the NFL Network. If it's not, well, join the club.
