The Falcons Front Office and Coaching Staff Have Focused on Building the Defense 1st From 2008 Till Now

After hearing for the umpteenth time that the Falcons FO and Coaching staff since 2008 have focused on and prioritized the Offense, I did a little research. I'm pretty certain that this isn't true. It's my belief that Thomas Dmitroff and the Coaching Staff have done the opposite, they are trying to build the Defense through the draft and have just enough offense to win. Of the 7 NFL Drafts the current regime has participated in, they have drafted 2 QBs, 8 OL, 3 RBs, 1 FB, 3 WRs and 2 TEs for a total of 19 Draft Picks. Defense, on the other hand, has seen 5 DTs, 5 DEs, 10 LBs, 8 CBs, and 7 Ss for a total of 35 draft picks. One pick was used to draft Matt Bosher, the Punter. So, that's 35 picks for Defense, 19 picks for Offense, and 1 pick for Special Teams. I have also broken it down by Rounds, for those who insist incorrectly that the current regime has used the premium picks on Offense and the latter round picks for Defense, but that's not quite right either. 4 1st, 1 2nd, 3 3rd, 3 4th, 4 5th, 1 6th, and 3 7th round picks were used for offense while 3 1st, 4 2nd, 6 3rd, 3 4th, 8 5th, 3 6th, and 8 7th round picks were used for Defense. Everyone I'm sure would have their own opinions on what constitutes a primo Draft Pick, but I think a fair definition would be rounds 1 through 3 since the odds of picks from round 4 and later becomming starters is much lower than Picks from Round 1 to 3., However, it's pretty clear, the current regime has placed an emphasis on and prioritized building the Defense.
