Jacksonville has part ways with the veteran DE Jason Babin.
Jason Babin has hit the free agency market today and it wouldn't surprise me a bit if the Atlanta Falcons front office targets him. Babin (6'4" 269 lbs. ) can be a decent fit in Atlanta's 3-4 scheme Jason has some years on him but he can still produce and plays at a high level consistently that's what stands out about him. Not sure what defensive scheme Jacksonville run but I do remember seeing him rotating at OLB and ILB , That says alot about a eleven year veteran. I was watching some of his highlights and I remember seeing him covering TE's down the field and he did a heck of a job doing it. So don't sleep on this guy talent.
2013 stats: (40 Tack , 7.5 Sacks )
With that being stated that will be a huge upgrade over Osi Umenyiora they both have the same sack stat but this guy is much productive and fluid then Osi. If The Falcons do decide to bring him in him and Osi will have to battle it out for the end position and 9x out of 10 Babin will probably win it and then the Falcons can cut ties with Umenyiora and won't have to really stress about the lack of pass rushing they'll be left with a more electrifying DE. Jason has all the tools in one - size , speed , agressivines , and alright coverage skills. In my opinion I think Thomas Dimitroff should take a chance and try to sign him to a reasonable deal he came cheap with Jacksonville ( 3yrs. $8.275M) sounds reasonable enough.
