Can someone explain to me why people think that Anthony Barr isn't an immediate contributor and only a situational player in his first couple seasons?
I understand he only played on defense for 2 years at UCLA. But look at his contribution.
Playing in a major conference and having huge contributions to his team playing defense to me would seem like he is an immediate contributor to our defense.
I am not saying that I would take Barr over Mack, but I don't get this notion he isn't ready now. Sure he has a higher ceiling and may take a few years to get to his potential but by no means is he a situational player year 1. He would be our best pass rusher and should be an every down player.
People like to just assume that there will be all these options to trade down. I don't believe it is that easy. I think you take him if the nightmare scenario happens with Robinson, Matthews, Clowney, and Mack all gone and no options of trading down. I definitely wouldn't be upset if we ended up with him.
