The ideal draft situation. The crazy way that it will acutally go down.

Nobody will give HOU what they want for #1. They will come close to accepting our offer of this years 4th & 5th and 2015 2nd round pick, but in the end they will pick Clowney in order to field the best front 7 in the NFL. Now, here's the key. HOU wants to trade back badly because they know they HAVE to have a QB that can come in and start this year. If they take Clowney, they are basically saying that they think they can get that QB in the 2nd. They are counting on a lackluster QB class slipping this year, and maybe only 2 or 3 QBs taken in the 1st so they could still grab Carr (ironic) or Bridgewater.

We have a trade. The St. Louis have traded the 2nd pick to the Minnesota Vikings (or any other QB hungry team).

With the 2nd pick in the 2014 NFL draft the Minnesota Vikings select- Johnny Manziel, QB Texas A&M.

With the 3rd pick in the 2014 NFL draft the Jacksonville Jaguars select- Blake Bortles, QB Central Florida.

With the 4th pick in the 2014 NFL draft the Cleveland Browns select- Derek Carr, QB, Fresno St.

Right about now, HOU is saying, "OH SHOOT! We made a big mistake." They are calling TD begging us to take Clowney for our 4th, 5th, and 2015 2nd. But alas, we are looking squarely at Mack or Robinson, and not very interested in trading.

With the 5th pick in the 2014 NFL draft the Oakland Raiders select- Sammy Watkins, WR Clemson

Uh oh. It's looking bad for HOU. We have our choice of 2 of the 3 truly elite players this year. Now, HOU can wait until their next pick rolls around and take a QB like Jimmy Garopollo or Tom Savage because there was another small run on QBs in the teens. Or, they can trade most of the rest of their draft, in an extremely deep draft mind you, to trade back up into the late 1st to take Bridgewater.

OR, perhaps they could make us an offer we can't refuse. They offer us Clowney for #6 and our 5th rounder. They just have to stop the bleeding, and try to get a starter at QB.

Maybe in this scenario, Cleveland takes Watkins and Oakland take Robinson or Mack. HOU gets spooked, and wants to get Carr.

They have got to move the draft back up a couple of weeks. I'm getting delirious and all kind of scenarios rolling around in my brain. I'm sorry for exposing y'all to my madness. I would much rather be discussing how Nolan will use Clowney and Lamarcus Joyner, and if Jack Mewhort will be able to take that starting RT spot from Holmes, Johnson, and Carimi.
